A grant is a contribution given by a constituent (company or individual) for a particular purpose. Grants differ from traditional contributions in that they usually require progress reporting back to the grantor and may require contracts delineating how the money can be used. For example, the Charitable Foundation provides a grant to the association for mentorship programs. The association signed a contract to use the funding only for the mentorships programs and agrees to provide a 6 month and one year progress report on how the money was used and what the outcomes of the program were.
